Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated, resilient PSHE & English Teacher to join a specialist alternative provision in North London, supporting secondary-aged students who are unable to access mainstream education.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a teacher passionate about re-engaging vulnerable young people and helping them rebuild confidence, resilience, and a positive relationship with learning.
The Role
You will teach students aged 11-16 in small groups, many of whom have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, or disrupted educational backgrounds. A flexible, patient, and relationship-focused approach is essential.
The role combines PSHE leadership with support for English and literacy development.
Key responsibilities:
Deliver engaging PSHE lessons covering wellbeing, relationships, personal development, and life skills
Support the delivery of English, improving students' reading, writing, and communication skills
Plan and adapt differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and personal growth
Build strong, trusting relationships to re-engage students in learning
Work collaboratively with pastoral staff and support teams to ensure consistent student support
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching PSHE, English, or related secondary subjects
Experience working with SEMH learners, behavioural needs, or in alternative provision (highly desirable)
Strong behaviour management skills with a calm, consistent approach
Empathetic, resilient, and committed to supporting young people
