About the Provider
Our client is a specialist childrens home provider based in Poole, Dorset, offering therapeutic care for children aged 411 years who have experienced trauma in early relationships. Each home supports up to two children, creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where healing and growth can flourish.
Their Therapeutic Re-Parenting Pathway focuses on assessment, intervention, and transition planning to help children move toward long-term family life through foster care, adoption, kinship, or reunification.

The Role
Were recruiting Therapeutic Parents (Residential Childcare Workers) to join this highly nurturing service. Youll work 2 days on / 4 days off, averaging 38.5 hours per week with regular sleep-ins. In this role, youll act as a consistent, caring figure for children who have experienced trauma, supporting their daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and personal growth within a small, family-style home.
Youll also work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, psychologists, and teachers to deliver personalised, trauma-informed care plans.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality therapeutic care in a nurturing home environment.
Build trusting relationships with children using the PACE model (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy).
Support daily routines, hobbies, and enrichment activities.
Work closely with the clinical and care team to deliver tailored interventions.
Participate in reflective practice sessions and ongoing training.
Maintain accurate care plans and records, ensuring safety and consistency.
Support education, administer medication, and contribute to a positive home environment.
About You
Essential:
Experience working with children or young people, ideally with social, emotional, or mental-health needs.
Commitment to trauma-informed, child-centred practice .
Emotional resilience and calm under pressure.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins.
Full UK Driving Licence and age 21+ (due to Ofsted regulations).
Desirable:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Familiarity with PACE or DDP therapeutic approaches.
Knowledge of SEMH, attachment, autism, or ADHD.
