As a Substance Use Social Worker, you will play a vital role in helping residents achieve recovery, independence and resettlement. Working within our dedicated Recovery Services, you will provide specialist support to residents with complex needs, including substance misuse, mental health challenges and histories of trauma. Experience of working with vulnerable adults experiencing multiple exclusions, along with knowledge of mental health and substance misuse is essential to this role. The successful candidate will work alongside clients to help them achieve their goals and ambitions, recognising individuals as the experts of their experiences and futures.
Job Purpose
* To develop social work practice across the organisation, working alongside clients and staff to help facilitate the best possible outcome for people we support.
* To support a caseload of clients within residential drug and alcohol services and requiring social work interventions, supporting them to navigate social care pathways.
* To ensure clients’ rights are upheld through promotion of self-advocacy and advocating on behalf of clients when appropriate.
* To demonstrate a commitment to and role model trauma informed ways of working and support the development of Psychologically Informed Environments.
* To provide family-based interventions.
* To support and advise service managers and staff on safeguarding concerns and relevant social care processes, including Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act assessments.
* Raising statutory services awareness of Turning Tides and the needs of people experiencing homelessness.
* Support the collation of data for organisational wide KPI’s, including both quantitative and qualitative data. Including case studies and reports as required.
About You
* Good knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014 and implications for Safeguarding.
* Good knowledge of substance misuse, mental health and social exclusion.
* Good understanding of the principles of Psychologically Informed Environments, the impact of trauma and application of trauma informed ways of working.
* Experience of applying social work training in complex cases including those involving child protection and vulnerable adults.
* Experience of working with vulnerable adults experiencing multiple exclusions.
* Proven track record of involving clients in the delivery of services.
* Experience of multi-agency working and influencing key stakeholders.
* You will hold a current Social Work Qualification and Current Social Work Registration.
