Head of Cyber Security
Manchester – hybrid working (2 days a week office based, 3 days a week remote)

Fantastic opportunity to secure the Head of Cyber Security role on a permanent basis. The Head of Cyber Security role forms a key part of the security leadership team reporting directly to the CISO. As Head of Cyber Security, you will shape and lead the Cyber Security function, acting as a trusted security expert to protect the UK’s Digital Energy System, our customers, colleagues & partners from damage caused by cyber threats.
What will you be doing?
• Provide oversight of all digital security activities across DCC and sit on the Security Leadership Team.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior business stakeholders across DCC and work with them to ensure that DCC is secure and compliant with the policies and standards operated by the SOC
• Provide guidance and support to the DCC leadership team in the event of a cyber incident including: participating as cyber representative on incident management teams; assessing business impacts, whether safety, reputational, regulatory, or commercial in nature.
• Use your technical and communication capabilities to facilitate strategic dialogue with leadership team regarding both current posture and emerging priorities including new business opportunities
• Lead, coach, develop and build a resilient and high-performing team who are capable of understanding and delivering on the security and technology vision and strategy, contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and take ownership of their career progression.
• Leading the Cyber Security team to ensure a pragmatic risk-based security approach is delivered
• Communicate Cyber Security goals and new programmes effectively to other department managers, serving as a focal point of contact for the cyber security operations team
What are we looking for?
· Proven experience of working in senior Cyber Security roles at Head of, CISO or Director level
· People focused with a strong background of leading teams
· Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks (Smart Energy Code obligations etc)
· Expert understanding of security design aspects of infrastructure, application, web, and cloud technologies
· Excellent people, communication, and diplomacy skills with experience of working with internal and external customers/suppliers
· Had regular exposure to board level stakeholders and bodies such as regulators and/or government departments and at a senior level
· Good communication skills both face to face and via written media.
