We are looking for motivated, caring individuals with excellent communication skills to work within our dynamic in-patient Physiotherapy team to deliver a high quality service to patients on general medical wards.


Job Summary

* Position: Physiotherapy Assistant, Band 2
* Type: Permanent
* Hours: 1X 37.5 hours per week (Full-time, Flexible working)


Main Duties

* To undertake specific support work to aid with the rehabilitation and mobility of patients.
* To treat patients (often unsupervised) according to set treatment protocols and individual treatment programmes as identified by a physiotherapist.
* Work with direct and indirect supervision, reporting back patient progress and informing physiotherapist of any problems.
* To assist in the general administration and equipment needs of the physiotherapy department autonomously.

Person Specification


Essential Qualifications

* GCSEs or equivalent including A‑C and above in English Language and Maths
* NVQ Level II or equivalent


Essential Experience

* Previous experience in caring for patients in a hospital or care setting
* A good understanding of discharge processes
* Understanding of social impacts on patient journeys


Desirable Experience

* Previous experience working within a therapy team


Essential Skills

* Ability to deal with the general public including those with communication/language barriers
* Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team
* Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
* Demonstrate ability to communicate with patients of a wide range of personalities including those with impaired communication abilities
* Able to demonstrate empathy, motivate and persuade all patients including those with impaired cognitive abilities or physical senses
* Demonstrate good organisational skills
* Able to handle sensitive/confidential issues
* Fitness to undertake the duties of the post
* Experience of providing physiotherapy interventions to patients
