Position: 2nd Line Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Herefordshire
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who is passionate about new technology and trends and has a strong track record in Infrastructure Support and Deployment. You will join a growing Operational Support team that works across operational and project activities, providing remote and on‑site support, including out‑of‑hours on‑call duties.
Responsibilities
The preferred candidate will demonstrate effective application of infrastructure and extensive knowledge across a variety of technologies, including Linux (Ubuntu / CentOS), Microsoft Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP), virtualisation (Hyper‑V), Microsoft Stack Technologies (SharePoint, SQL Server, Skype for Business / Teams), networking technologies and storage. The role involves:
* Contributing to the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation and providing material to support projects or operational services.
* Providing remote and on‑site support, including out‑of‑hours on‑call support.
* Deploying and supporting servers and network services, troubleshooting incidents, and ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs.
* Working autonomously to achieve day‑to‑day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables.
Qualifications
* Excellent knowledge of virtualised environments such as VMware and Hyper‑V.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Windows Server environments (2003 – 2019) including OS build, AD, DNS, DHCP and GPO from design to implementation and support.
* Strong Linux system administration skills (Ubuntu / CentOS).
* Good general knowledge of TCP/IP and networking technologies including load balancing and firewalls.
* Good general knowledge of Microsoft stack technologies such as SharePoint, Skype for Business / Teams, MS SQL, MS System Centre, Office365, MS Exchange, and PowerShell.
* Good general knowledge of SAN storage technologies.
* Excellent analysis and problem‑solving skills, taking ownership of complex incidents ensuring resolution to the satisfaction of the customer.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to engage directly with customers and colleagues.
* Experience producing and updating technical documentation to a high standard.
* Must be eligible to undergo security clearance (DV).

Pay Range: £34,800.00 – £43,500.00 (general guideline only; final offer may vary).
