Requirements
Verterra Energy is seeking a New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineer to work closely with the engineering team to incorporate Design for Manufacturing principles into VOLTURNUS. The ideal candidate has experience creating build process diagrams, manufacturing documentation / work instructions, and cell design and layout. They can identify, design, and procure manufacturing equipment and tooling.
This role involves contributing to various phases of product design, development, prototyping, manufacturing, and operational support. The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will play a critical role in transitioning concepts through prototyping into production, supporting Verterra Energy’s modular hydropower technology development.
The successful candidate will own the process of making a producible product, acting as a bridge between engineering and operations. They should possess a curious and thoughtful mindset, a passion for manufacturing, practical mechanical skills, and adaptability to evolving project timelines and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead Design-for-Manufacturing efforts
2. Collaborate with Operations to create and implement production readiness infrastructure
3. Report progress, risks, and opportunities to the Program Manager and Leadership Team
4. Identify and establish digital and industrial needs to support low-rate initial production
5. Support strategy development for production scaling and factory modernization
Must Have
* U.S. only
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field
* 5+ years of experience as a manufacturing, industrial, or design engineer, with hands-on involvement in a production environment
* Experience incorporating design for production features into development products
* Understanding of design for manufacturability, including scaling production
Nice to Have
* Experience with electronics, composites, and polymer production
* Lean Manufacturing background, participation or leadership in Lean or Kaizen events, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Cell layout design or redesign experience, including facilities planning
* Experience with tools like SPC, RCCA, PPAP, Six Sigma, etc.
* Project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including training technicians and operators
* Experience working with Government or DOD programs
