Head of Year / Pastoral Support – Full-Time (Temporary to Permanent)

A caring and ambitious secondary school in Leyland is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head of Year / Pastoral Support Officer to join their team on a full-time, temporary-to-permanent basis, starting from Monday 3rd November 2025.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour, and academic progress to take on a key pastoral leadership role within the school.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the pastoral care and academic support for a specific year group
* Monitor and support student behaviour, attendance, and achievement
* Be the first point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding pastoral matters
* Work closely with teaching staff, safeguarding leads, and SLT to ensure a supportive environment for all students
* Organise and lead year group assemblies and interventions as needed
Candidate Requirements:
* Experience working in a pastoral or behavioural support role within a school setting
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* A calm, consistent, and proactive approach to supporting young people
* Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
* A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Previous experience as a Head of Year or in a similar leadership role is desirable, but strong candidates with relevant pastoral experience will be considered

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
