Role – Electrical Supervisor
Location: Essex
Mint Selection is partnering with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced Electrical Supervisor for an immediate start on a 3‑month renewable contract. Outside IR35.
Scope of Work
* Supervise daily site activities for all electrical works on the Gas Peaking Plant project, including LV/MV distribution, cabling, containment, switchgear installation, earthing, and control systems.
* Coordinate and oversee site operatives and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with drawings and specifications.
* Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and site permit‑to‑work systems.
* Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with progress reporting, quality checks, and coordination with other disciplines (civil, mechanical, commissioning).
* Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain safe working practices.
* Monitor site progress and workmanship, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality requirements.
* Complete and maintain site records, including daily diaries, permits, inspections, and test reports.
* Liaise with suppliers, delivery teams, and subcontractors to manage material and equipment logistics on site.
* Identify and report any risks, delays, or non‑conformances to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
* Support commissioning, energisation, and handover by ensuring electrical works are completed and verified to the required standards.
Experience and Qualifications
* Proven experience as an Electrical Supervisor on power, energy or heavy industrial projects—ideally including gas‑fired plants, peaking plants, or large‑scale infrastructure.
* Strong working knowledge of electrical installation techniques, including power distribution, switchgear, cabling, containment, and earthing systems.
* Understanding of power plant layouts and interfaces with mechanical and civil installations.
* Experience supervising multi‑skilled site teams and subcontractors under tight programme requirements.
* Sound knowledge of HSEQ procedures, permits, and safe systems of work.
* Good communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to maintain a strong site presence and proactive approach.
These will be a 3‑month renewable contract and are outside IR35.
