Town Planner
Location: Cardiff
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a very well respected consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their Cardiff office.
This is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional to join a respected national consultancy, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across residential, commercial, education, healthcare, and mixed‑use sectors.
The Role
As a Town Planner, you will play a key role in delivering planning advice and managing applications across a wide range of development projects throughout Wales and the wider UK. You will work closely with senior colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to provide strategic, commercially focused planning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
* Undertaking site appraisals and planning policy research
* Drafting high-quality Planning Statements and supporting reports
* Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, consultees, and stakeholders
* Managing smaller projects independently while supporting larger schemes
* Attending client meetings and site visits
* Monitoring planning legislation and policy updates
Candidate Requirements
* Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
* MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership
* Experience within consultancy or local authority
* Good understanding of the Welsh planning system (desirable)
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Proactive and organised approach to project management
