We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Deputy Associate Director of Facilities – Domestics to join a Facilities leadership team on a 6‑month contract.
This pivotal role provides strategic and operational leadership across Domestic Services, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, efficient and customer‑focused cleaning services across Gloucestershire Hospitals and the wider health community.
You will play a key role in transforming domestic operations, embedding innovation, driving service improvement, and ensuring the consistent delivery of clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environments that support infection prevention and excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
* Lead Domestic Services across Cheltenham and Gloucester, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities.
* Ensure delivery of safe, effective and compliant domestic and cleaning services across all hospital sites.
* Maintain compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including health and safety and national healthcare cleaning standards.
* Drive transformation, standardisation and continuous improvement across Domestic Services.
* Implement robust performance management including KPIs, audits, inspections and quality assurance processes.
* Lead business continuity and emergency response planning for Domestic Services.
Service & Relationship Management
* Oversee contractor and supplier performance, addressing risks proactively.
* Work closely with GHNHSFT colleagues and external partners to ensure integrated, high‑quality service delivery.
* Represent Domestic Services at governance forums such as the Infection Control Committee and Water Safety Group.
Leadership & Workforce Development
* Provide senior leadership to Domestic Service Managers and Supervisors.
* Champion workforce development, talent management and succession planning.
* Foster a positive culture focused on engagement, wellbeing and continuous improvement.
* Ensure effective employee relations and adherence to HR policies.
Organisational Contribution
* Act as Deputy to the Associate Director of Facilities, supporting wider organisational strategic priorities.
* Support senior management on‑call rota participation (as required).
About You
Qualifications
* Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Facilities Management or a related field (Essential)
* Professional membership (e.g., CMI, IWFM) (Essential)
* Evidence of leadership training and continued professional development (Essential)
Knowledge & Skills
* Extensive knowledge of healthcare domestic services, infection prevention, quality assurance and compliance (Essential)
* Strong strategic and operational leadership skills (Essential)
* Proven ability to manage budgets and analyse data to drive efficiencies (Essential)
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving and IT skills (Essential)
Experience
* Significant leadership experience in domestic or facilities operations within a large, complex organisation (Essential)
* Track record of delivering transformation and service improvement programmes (Essential)
* Experience in workforce planning, organisational development, and cultural change (Essential)
* Experience working with senior stakeholders, regulatory bodies and governance boards (Essential)
