Linux Engineer - ON SITE POSITION*Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must be eligible and willing to gain SC clearance for this position* Role outline: As a Unix/Linux engineer, you’ll be responsible for keeping Unix operating systems up and running to their maximum ability. You’ll be responsible for providing technical support along with being a leadership figure in the creation and delivery of technology solutions purposely designed to meet customers’ business needs. Responsibilities/job functions: Expertise working with Linux Solaris/Redhat/Ubuntu/DebianShould have a strong understanding of the Unix operating system and how it works, along with being able to troubleshoot problems and identify potential issue.Implementing technical solutions.Providing detailed technical designs for enterprise solutions.Provide routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrading to existing systems.Be able to design, implement and manage both Unix and Linux-based operating systems.Leading small/medium technical projects.Working with/under the direction of the Project/Technical ManagerProvide advice on solution and integration opportunities.Provide technical leadership and advice on specific integration activities. Ideal knowledge and skills: Has a sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be individually responsible for the design and scope of deliverables within a specific field of expertise.Has ability to perform/drive resolution of problems on combinations and interactions of products.Ability to apply technology and consulting to solve a client business problem.Able to communicate and present complex issues with confidence.Demonstrate the use of consulting skills including questioning, listening, ideas development, permission, and rapport, and influencing.Ability to translate technical details into concise and easy to understand written form.Ability to write relevant components of a proposal document (e.g., answer specific RFP questions).Ability to translate verbal requirements from face-to-face client meetings into requirements documents, statements of work, and proposals.Leadership skills to assist less experienced personnel. Ideal qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in systems engineering, computer science or management information systems.5 + years’ experience in system engineering, software engineering, operating systems programming, or naval architecture.Experience working with computer hardware, operating system software and desktop applications with a specific concentration in one or more areas.Experience working with one or more structured programming languages (Eg.
