Role Purpose: Reporting to the Machine-shop Supervisor and working closely with the Production Planning department and Purchasing Department the machine shop technician will be responsible for creating programs for CNC Machines using 3D CAD Models or data taken from technical drawings. Setting up and running CNC Machines and ensuring the machines are working at full capacity, producing high quality components to lead times. Key Responsibilities: * Planning out the most efficient order for machining operations on each job. * Checking that work meets quality and technical standards. * Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements. * Ensure all CNC Programs are fully backed up for future repeat orders. * Effective communication with Engineering team to ensure all design changes during manufacture are captured. * Adhere to the company's procedures, policies and goals * Ensure at all times that health and safety regulations and guidelines are followed * Ensure that all procedures are followed as specified in the Quality Manual * Ensure that all documentation related to your work is kept accurate and up to date in accordance with BS EN9001 * Assist in maintaining the office and workshop in a clean and orderly state and ensure good project house keeping * Work in a conscientious and safe manner at all times, with due consideration of other personnel * Answer all telephones and e-mails as and when necessary in a polite and courteous manner Skills & Experience Essential * Qualified to a recognised standard with a minimum of 3 year’s practical experience on CNC mills * Experience working to high tolerances in a pressured environment * Working from 2D cad drawings ideally with 3D CadCam experience (Training can be given) * Confidence in measuring your own and others work * To have a flexible and conscientious approach Desirable: * Experience using manual lathe and mills * An understanding of CadCam programming * Working with Heidenhain and Mazatrol controls (Training can be given) Work life balance: * 37.5 hour working weeK * Lunchtime finishes on a Friday * 28 days annual leave, Christmas closure & Holiday purchasing scheme Benefits: * Group pension plan – matched contributions up to 5% * Income protection scheme * Employee Assistance Programme gives you and your family access to 4 key services including remote GP service, second opinion, mental health pathway service and physiotherapy consultations * Life assurance policy, including bereavement counselling and probate helpline * Company shares incentive plan and save as you earn scheme * Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme Security Clearance Requirements: Due to the nature of our business, our staff need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance as a mandated requirement.
