Senior Water Quality Modeller – Mott MacDonald

Overview
The Water Consultancy Division of Mott MacDonald seeks a Senior Water Quality Modeller to work with a multidisciplinary team delivering complex environmental engineering projects. The role includes both bespoke and industry‑standard hydrodynamic and water quality modelling packages, with opportunities to innovate beyond current standards.
Responsibilities
* Lead complex modelling projects and collaborate with experts across disciplines.
* Analyse large datasets, distil patterns and relationships, and provide insights for effective interventions.
* Assist in proposal writing and support new business development with technical input.
* Maintain client relationships and manage project deliverables.
* Support, train, mentor, and develop junior colleagues.
Candidate Specification
* Relevant degree‑level qualification (e.g., geography, mathematics, environmental sciences, civil engineering, or related discipline).
* Chartered with an appropriate professional body.
* Track record in delivering successful SOAF, UPM and/or river modelling projects for UK water companies.
* Good understanding of hydrodynamics, sediment and water quality processes.
* Expertise in industry standard software such as InfoWorks and/or MIKE11.
* Willingness to innovate and guide junior staff.
Desirable Skills
* Coding skills and statistical foundations.
* Experience with source apportionment assessments, catchment management modelling, or application of nature‑based solutions to pollution.
* Knowledge of climate‑change impacts and regulatory compliance for water bodies.
