Overview
We are seeking a Fisheries Enforcement Officer to join our North East Area team. The role involves tackling crime, conducting investigations and submitting case files. Using an intelligence‑led enforcement approach you will help protect and enhance fisheries habitats and stocks for current and future generations.

Responsibilities
* Hold an authorisation under the Salmon & Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975 (SAFFA) and act as a Constable to investigate fisheries offences.
* Receive training in relevant legislation and be issued specialist equipment and PPE.
* Conduct regular fisheries enforcement patrols with colleagues, police and other partners.
* Target, disrupt and take action against fisheries crime, working unsocial hours and on short notice.
* Use computer‑based systems to keep accurate records and retrieve data.
* Act as a crew member on board the Fisheries Enforcement boat when required.
* Participate in specialist surveillance training.
* Enforce legislation relating to illegal fishing, fish movements and invasive non‑native species.
Qualifications
* Excellent verbal and written communication and organisational skills.
* Experience of conflict resolution techniques desirable; mandatory conflict resolution training will be provided and requires a suitable level of physical fitness.
* A full UK driving licence and the ability to swim are essential.
* Boat‑handling experience or qualifications desirable.
* Knowledge of fisheries and environmental legislation would be advantageous.
* Proven ability to complete tasks accurately with minimal supervision, independently or as part of a team.
* Previous boat work at sea desirable, though not essential.
