Location: Nottinghamshire
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in-office in the East Midlands, 3 days remote)
Our client is a highly respected financial services organisation (Mortgage & Savings). Due to a restructure, they are recruiting for an Interim Financial Controller for a 6-month period. You must be immediately available and able to travel to their Head Office in Nottinghamshire on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the rest of the week working from home. A handover period will be provided.
The role involves managing a team of 4 (including 2 direct reports) and overseeing the financial operations of the business. Key responsibilities include managing month and year-end reporting, overseeing treasury back office and accounts payable, evaluating financial risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, preparing financial statements, coordinating audits, and managing tax matters supported by third parties.
Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:
* Manage month-end and year-end reporting processes, liaising with internal and external auditors.
* Control of the ALMIS system and treasury back office.
* Understanding and signing off regulatory returns in the absence of the FD.
* Prepare financial reports for the Board and committees.
* Produce ICAAP and Recovery Plan if required within the 6-month period.
* Oversee FRS 102 reporting models, bad debt provisions, and hedge accounting.
* Ensure readiness for FRS 102 changes, such as lease accounting updates.
Requirements of the Financial Controller:
* Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years PQE.
* Experience within a PRA-regulated financial services business, preferably a mortgage lender.
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team.
* Knowledge of PRA regulations, including ICAAP & ILAAP.
* Understanding of ALMIS treasury system.
* Proficiency in Excel and Management Information (MI) reporting.
