The ESO is a legally separate business within the National Grid Group however is in the process of divesting from National Grid and later in 2024 will become the new and independent National Energy System Operator (NESO) a public corporation responsible for planning Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system. Section 2 – Purpose of the Role ESO is on a digital and transformative journey shifting our culture to one that is open, innovative and team-driven and deploying market leading and first-in-the world technologies to achieve net-zero operability by 2025. We are also in the process of transitioning from the National Grid Group and establishing the National Energy System Operator (NESO) which will be a new, independent, public corporation that will be responsible for planning Britain’s electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system. With this requires the operationalisation of our own platforms and services and transitioning from those owned and provided by National Grid. This role will be to manage the delivery and roll out of our Service Management capabilities utilising the ServiceNow platform, as well as being responsible for the delivery of other ServiceNow modules which align to our need cases and architecture roadmap. The Project Manager is responsible for bringing together the m ultidisciplinary team who work tog ether to deliver solutions, ensuring delivery meets time, cost and quality criteria. Develop an Agile project plan, including iterative development cycles, product backlog, and sprint planning. Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies, considering the Agile approach to risk management. Align project goals with DevSecOps, SRE, and Agile Product-led model principles. Work closely with business and technical teams and Product Owner to ensure requirements are gathered in an Agile manner, prioritizing user stories, features and epics. Coordinate and manage Agile project activities, ensuring adherence to iterative development cycles and sprint timelines. Facilitate communication and collaboration between cross-functional Agile teams, including product /platform owners, developers, and operations. Monitor project progress and address any issues or risks that arise during Agile iterations. Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular Agile updates, including sprint reviews and product demonstrations. Implement quality control processes within Agile iterations to ensure adherence to DevSecOps and SRE principles. Drive Agile change management strategies for smooth adoption, including continuous improvement and adaptation. Maintain Agile project documentation, overarching MSP project plan and sprint level plans. Generate regular Agile status reports, showcasing progress and product increments. Manage the project budget, forecasting via standard finance processes on a monthly basis ensuring alignnment with sanction Responsible for inputs to regular governance forums, reporting status of delivery, risks and issues and Finance status Document Agile lessons learned and best practices for future reference, promoting continuous learning and improvement within the Agile Product-led model. Section 6 – Main Interfaces Works closely with: Project Managers, Programme Managers, Delivery/platform Managers, Technical Lead s, Solution Architect s Reports To: Programme Manager Participates In Product Governance ( PMB ’ s, working groups/delivery forums), Delivery Team Reviews, Finance Reviews Section 7 – Qualifications and Experience Strong experience in project management, specifically in leading ServiceNow implementations. Proven track record in successfully delivering projects on time and within budget. Familiarity with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience in applying them to project management. In-depth knowledge of DevSecOps and SRE principles and their practical application in project delivery. Proficiency in using ServiceNow platform and understanding of its capabilities and configuration Experience in managing greenfield implementations, from requirements gathering to project execution. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and effectively communicating with cross-functional teams. Prior experience in implementing Agile Product-led models and driving Agile practices within project teams. Experience in quantifying project goals, objectives, and scope, and aligning them with DevSecOps, SRE, and Agile principles. Familiarity with project management tools and software, such as ADO, ServiceNow PPM, or Microsoft Project.
