Location: Remote with adhoc site visits to UK sites
Duration: 6 month contract

Role details:
Our client, a leading provider in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a knowledgeable and proactive M365 Security Design Engineer to join their team. This is a remote contract position with occasional site visits across the UK, lasting for a duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design and implement security controls across E5 Microsoft 365 services such as Endpoints, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Teams.
2. Support Windows 11 and Exchange Online projects throughout their design and deployment stages.
3. Develop and maintain security configurations and baselines in line with industry standards such as NIST, CIS, and ISO 27001.
4. Configure and manage Microsoft Defender for Office 365, Cloud, Endpoint, Servers, and Microsoft Purview security features.
5. Integrate with MS Sentinel and work with existing SOC teams to adopt Sentinel technology capabilities.
6. Implement Microsoft Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
7. Provide security input and guidance on identity and access management, conditional access policies, and zero trust architecture.
8. Conduct risk assessments, gap analysis, and security impact analysis for M365 deployments and integrations.
9. Collaborate with security operations and compliance teams to monitor, investigate, and remediate threats and incidents.
10. Maintain up-to-date documentation and deliver training or knowledge transfer sessions to operational teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
11. Proven experience in designing and securing M365 environments in enterprise settings.
12. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 security technologies, including the Defender suite, Purview, and Entra ID.
13. Strong understanding of identity, access management, and conditional access controls.
14. Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and ISO 27001.
15. Proficient with Microsoft security and compliance portals, PowerShell scripting, and automation tools.
16. Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., SC-100, SC-300, MS-500, AZ-500) are highly desirable.
