Machine Shop Manager Permanent – Full-Time – Days - Monday-Friday - £55,000-£60,000 Bonus A well-established advanced manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Machine Shop Manager to lead machining operations, improve manufacturing performance, and drive continuous improvement across production. This is a key operational leadership role responsible for managing machining performance, production engineering capability, and operational efficiency within a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment. The Role: • Lead and manage machining operations across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity • Drive manufacturing performance through improved machine utilisation, efficiency, and process optimisation • Support production engineering activities including tooling, fixturing, cycle time improvements, and process development • Work closely with planning and operations teams to ensure production schedules are achieved effectively • Monitor shopfloor performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions • Improve operational KPIs including OEE, downtime reduction, and productivity improvements • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across machining and manufacturing processes • Support quality improvement activity including root cause analysis and corrective actions • Review labour resource planning and team capability to align with business demand • Manage tooling and consumable spend in line with operational budgets • Support investment planning for new machinery, equipment, and manufacturing capability improvements • Develop and mentor team leaders, engineers, and shopfloor personnel • Support apprenticeship development and workforce upskilling • Manage performance, attendance, and general people management responsibilities The Person: • Strong background in CNC machining and manufacturing operations • Proven experience leading machine shop or production teams within engineering manufacturing • Good understanding of machining methods, tooling strategy, and production engineering principles • Experience driving efficiency, utilisation, and continuous improvement activity • Strong people leadership and team development experience • Comfortable working cross-functionally across engineering, planning, and operations • Experience managing KPIs and reporting operational performance • Engineering apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent desirable • Lean manufacturing knowledge (5S, waste reduction, process improvement) advantageous Why Apply? • Opportunity to lead a key manufacturing function within an established engineering business • Strong investment in manufacturing capability and continuous improvement • High-impact leadership role with genuine influence on operational performance • Long-term progression opportunities within a growing organisation If this role sounds of interest to you, apply to George.jackson@imtresourcing.com today.
