Senior Electronics Engineer Location: Norfolk, UK Salary: Competitive Benefits Contract: Full-Time, Permanent A dynamic and fast-growing engineering business specialising in electric powertrain systems for commercial, industrial, and specialist vehicle applications is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary development team. The company is focused on delivering innovative, high-power solutions that enable the transition to cleaner, more efficient mobility and machinery. The Senior Electronics Engineer will play a critical role in the design and delivery of power electronic systems, specifically bidirectional DC/DC converters, for use in advanced electric and hybrid powertrains. This is a hands-on, technically challenging role that requires deep understanding of both theoretical and applied electronics. Key Responsibilities As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and testing high-power electronic systems, with tasks including: Taking designs from concept through to manufacture, certification, and release. Designing high-power DC/DC converters (2–10kW), including schematic capture, layout and simulation. Collaborating with mechanical and firmware teams on thermal, sensing, and control requirements. Performing thermal analysis and working with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal solutions. Supporting EMC compliance, including internal pre-compliance testing and working with external test houses. Leading DFMEA and PFMEA activities to ensure robust design and safety standards. Producing test plans, validation documents, and technical reports. Supporting junior engineers and driving continuous improvement across the electronics development lifecycle. Qualifications & Experience To thrive as a Senior Electronics Engineer, you should have: A degree in Electronic, Electro-Mechanical or a related Engineering discipline. Experience designing high-power buck/boost converters, particularly with battery-powered systems (Li-ion or lead-acid). Hands-on experience with electronic simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink or Simetrix. Proficiency with Altium or similar ECAD tools. Strong analogue design experience, including current/voltage sensing and signal conditioning. Understanding of firmware integration and control loop considerations. Experience in New Product Introduction (NPI), including design reviews, verification, and validation. Familiarity with EMC design principles and regulatory standards. Why Join Us?
