About the role
Consultant Forensic/General Adult Psychiatrist based at St Ann’s Hospital in Poole, with trust-wide responsibility across Dorset.
Key responsibilities
* Responsible clinician for psychiatric care of 12 inpatients on the low secure Twynham Ward
* Provide cross-cover to the community forensic team during consultant leave periods
* Attend weekly forensic multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
* Provide assessments for cases referred to the team, including consultation referrals by other teams in the Trust
* Assess patients placed “out of area” (OOA) in secure services, monitor progress by attending “confidence and planning” (CPA) meetings and advising on care pathways
* Maintain Section 12(2) registration and be an approved clinician
* Join the county‑wide consultant on‑call rota (with additional 0.75 PA reimbursement)
* Engage in research and development, with support to develop own research interests or become a Principal Investigator on NIHR portfolio studies
