Proposal Manager (6-Month FTC)

An established construction organisation is seeking a highly skilled Proposals Manager to join its Southern regional team on a 6-month FTC. This individual will play a pivotal role in securing new work by leading the development of compelling, customer‑focused and persuasive proposals across South London and the Southeast.
The Proposals Manager will work closely with a Bid Manager on first‑stage tenders, shaping and delivering high‑quality submissions that clearly articulate the company’s offer, address customer needs and demonstrate best value. They will collaborate with subject matter experts across the business, transforming complex technical information into clear, engaging written content that resonates strongly with customers.
Through well‑crafted written and oral submissions, the Proposals Manager will help ensure proposals stand out and support successful work‑winning. The role also suits someone with strong stakeholder‑management skills, creative problem‑solving ability and the confidence to challenge and influence when required.
Proposal Manager Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development of compliant, compelling and persuasive bid submissions aligned to the win strategy.
* Identify, coordinate and engage subject matter experts to contribute effectively to proposals.
* Develop and maintain detailed proposal plans, managing inputs, timescales, reviews and deadlines.
* Write clear, consistent and customer‑focused proposal responses from scratch.
* Brief, support and challenge contributors to ensure responses meet quality, tone and content expectations.
* Review, edit and refine written content ahead of submission to ensure accuracy, consistency and impact.
* Facilitate post‑submission reviews, capturing lessons learned and driving continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria for Proposal Manager
* Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, concise and persuasive content.
* Proven ability to lead written responses and enhance content produced by others.
* Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to produce high‑quality work under pressure.
* Creative thinking and the ability to translate complex information into compelling narratives.
* Strong project‑management capability, managing multiple contributors to meet fixed deadlines.
* Confidence in challenging and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
Desirable
* A degree in English literature, journalism or an equivalent qualification.
