MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
As a Specialist BI Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping BI strategy and delivering enterprise-grade Tableau reporting solutions across business clients and functions. Key responsibilities:
* Lead end-to-end BI solution delivery on complex engagements, ensuring both technical excellence and tangible business value.
* Collaborate with BI teams, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and high-quality delivery.
* Shape and influence client BI strategies, advocating best practices in data modelling, governance, and adoption. Our consultants are confident in constructively challenging clients and peers to ensure optimal outcomes.
* Facilitate requirements workshops and design sessions, engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders to co-create effective solutions.
* Deliver tailored training and adoption support across all user personas—from Consumers to advanced Developers—ensuring learning is relevant, practical, and engaging.
* Own key deliverables, including the design of BI-centric data models, working alongside Data Engineers and Architects using leading technologies.
* Support Delivery Leads in driving delivery plans, structuring high-quality work, managing risks and dependencies, and communicating effectively with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
* Lead teams of onshore and offshore developers, ensuring consistent standards and delivery excellence.
Experience: Essential
* Experience delivering a range of Business Intelligence solutions with tangible business benefits, ideally within a consulting environment.
* Strong expertise in the design, implementation, and optimisation of Tableau solutions.
* Ability to assess and rationalise existing reporting estates, consolidating legacy dashboards and migrating to strategic, governed target-state architectures.
* Familiarity with enterprise Tableau governance, including report sign-off cycles, access management, and support for regulated data products.
* Ability to mentor and lead teams.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
* Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL, and data modelling concepts within a BI environment.
Experience: Desirable
* Proven experience shaping and implementing Tableau Governance, Self-Service, and Adoption strategies, including frameworks across people, process, and technology.
* Tableau Certification (e.g. Tableau Data Analyst, Tableau Associate Consultant).
* Experience delivering and facilitating client-facing training across all levels—from introductory sessions for report Consumers to advanced workshops for Developers and Analysts.
* Passion for BI community engagement, with interest in speaking at industry events, contributing to thought leadership, and maintaining an active presence on social media.
* Domain experience within Finance, Insurance, or Risk sectors.
* Ability to deliver curated, performance-optimised gold-layer data models using technologies such as Lakehouse, AWS, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Snowflake.
* Hands-on experience with other BI tools such as Power BI, QuickSight, and Databricks.
* Working knowledge of publishing certified reports or data products into governed marketplaces.
