This is a hands-on role, leading a small team, providing vital support to the business, and contributing to the smooth running of the organisation.

The Role
To take full responsibility for the Engineering Department, ensuring the effectiveness of plant machinery, maintenance, and utilities to support full efficiency within production. Responsible for both preventative and reactive maintenance activities, working alongside your team.
* Manage a team of engineers and technical cleaners on a multi-shift arrangement, appraising and reviewing performance.
* Ensure full training for all team members through regular reviews.
* Review and update plant and machinery maintenance schedules as necessary.
* Plan and organise all planned preventative maintenance activities.
* Monitor systems for all plant and machinery to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
* Maintain safe systems of work for the engineering team.
* Work with other departments as a key member of the Site Leadership Team.
* Manage storage and ordering of spare parts and essential equipment.
* Oversee installation and annual review of key plant and machinery, reporting defects to Directors.
* Coordinate with Operations and Production teams for maintenance and emergency repairs, ensuring minimal disruption and high standards.
* Lead a team of shift engineers, managing training, performance, and shift coverage for 24/7 operations.
* Assist with recruitment and qualification checks of engineering staff.
* Support planning and management of new projects.
* Review and report on new plant and machinery installations.
* Audit external contractors' workmanship and assist with health, safety, and environmental audits, ensuring recommendations are implemented.
* Manage contractors on site, including work permits and RAMs.
