The post holder will support the Stock Management Change Programme to transfer all stock locations onto the Trust Inventory Management System and support ongoing effective management and control of stock across all departments through cycle counting, inventory accuracy monitoring and replenishment activities. The post holder will ensure accurate inventory records, support delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide operational cover for absences in the Supply Chain Team to maintain continuity of service.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct scheduled cycle counts across all clinical and non‑clinical departments in line with the agreed counting programme.
* Investigate and reconcile stock discrepancies in collaboration with ward/department staff and Supply Chain colleagues.
* Ensure stock levels are accurate within the inventory management system.
* Escalate significant variances or stock risks to the Supply Chain Supervisor.
* Assist in identifying obsolete, slow‑moving or excess stock.
* Follow standard operating procedures and guidelines for the Inventory Management System and tasks detailed by the Line Manager and Operating Procedures.
* Ensure all stock counts are uploaded into the Inventory Management System promptly and accurately.
* Capture accurate records of adjustments, discrepancies and stock movements in the system.
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies relating to stock control and audit.
* Support the Stock Management Change Programme and extend the Inventory Management System throughout the Trust.
* Support the Site Supply Chain Supervisor in extending Material Management and Inventory Management throughout the Trust.
* Contribute to delivery of departmental KPIs including stock accuracy targets, waste reduction, stock value reduction and service level compliance.
* Provide operational cover during Supply Chain Team absences: check and process deliveries on site, maintain ward storage areas, order items using electronic barcode reader, expedite orders, receive stock and put away, ensuring good stock‑control principles are adhered to.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum 12 months experience in an NHS Supply Chain environment.
* Proficient IT skills, including experience with inventory management systems.
* Disclosure and Barring Service check required due to access to vulnerable people.
* Commitment to comply with Trust policies and the Sexual Safety Charter.
