About the Role
This is a long-term/permanent position supporting a young pupil in Reception on a 1:1 basis.
The pupil requires focused support with speech, language, and communication. The role will involve delivering targeted interventions and adapting strategies to support her development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 speech and language support
* Use structured communication methods, including Makaton
* Support the pupil’s engagement in classroom activities
* Work closely with the class teacher and external professionals
* Monitor progress and adapt support strategies accordingly
* Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
* Strong knowledge and experience of Makaton – essential
* Experience supporting children with speech and language needs
* Background working within a school or early years setting
* Patient, nurturing, and proactive approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Highly reliable
Desirable
* Experience supporting pupils with SEN
* Early Years/Reception experience
