The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. This key role will be responsible for the successful delivery of archaeology and heritage inputs for the delivery of the Strategic Pipeline, reporting to the SPA Archaeology Lead. The role will co-ordinate scheme tasks ensuring that the Safer Everyday principles are first and foremost and providing adherence to the scheme programmes in compliance with the SPA Archaeology Strategy. The Scheme Archaeology Lead will manage the archaeological response for their scheme, ensuring that deliverables are completed to a suitable standard prior to submission to the SPA Regional Archaeology Lead for the first step of the QA process. The successful candidate will attend multi-disciplinary meetings, liaising with planners, commercial team, delivery, ecology, lands etc ensuring that the archaeological programme accords and aligns with all other aspects of the scheme. Provide a healthy and safe working environment is crucial, the Archaeology Scheme Lead will apply this approach to all aspects of their role Sharing learning across sites Produce archaeological risk maps identifying areas of high, moderate and low risk. Risk-mapping will be based on available historic environment data and the risk-map is a dynamic product and will be updated at regular intervals in response to the developing design and baseline understanding Design and completion of archaeological fieldwork investigations and production of scheme desk-based assessments Quality control and consistency of output of the deliverable Collaborate with other SAT members and share updates with the team on a regular basis Work with the SPA Archaeology and Delivery teams to complete all work to programme Ensure any changes to the agreed programme are communicated promptly and clearly Work with the SPA Archaeology Lead and Enabling Manager to mitigate the impacts of programme change Work closely with key stakeholders to maintain a communicative, open and honest relationship Demonstrable experience of archaeological fieldwork to supervisor level as a minimum Previous experience working as an Archaeology lead for large infrastructure projects Experience of checking detailed archaeological deliverables Member of CIfA, Practitioner or Associate level Able to use ArcGIS software without support Full UK driving licence Ability to travel to Peterborough for meetings on a regular basis to build and maintain professional networks and facilitate collaboration LI-JA1 Costain helps to improve people’s lives with integrated, leading edge, smart infrastructure solutions across the UK’s energy, water, transportation and defence markets.
