Position Overview: As an Energy Sector Economist within our Strategy & Innovation team, you will play a leading role in analysing, forecasting and strategising the economic aspects of energy networks within the evolving energy landscape. Your insights and recommendations will directly contribute to shaping the policy decisions, investment strategies, and operational frameworks needed to redefine the energy landscape, revolutionising how we harness, distribute, and manage energy. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive economic analysis of the energy sector, including market trends, pricing mechanisms, supply and demand dynamics, and regulatory developments. Develop and maintain advanced models to project future energy consumption, generation capacity, and pricing scenarios to support strategic decision-making. Help lead the evaluation and development of business plans, strategies and models for energy sector clients, with a focus on delivering robust, cost-effective and high-quality outputs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate economic insights into broader energy system models, ensuring a holistic understanding of the impacts of various policies and investments. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness and financial viability of innovative technologies, infrastructure projects, and renewable energy initiatives within the energy sector. Provide actionable recommendations to optimise resource allocation, minimise financial risks, and enhance overall sector efficiency while advancing sustainability goals. Monitor global energy market trends and assess their potential influence on the UK's energy sector, adapting strategies as necessary. Support business development activities by contributing to proposal development, client presentations, and technical discussions. Produce high-quality reports, presentations and data visualisations to effectively communicate complex economic concepts to stakeholders including policymakers, executives and industry partners. Qualifications: Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Economics, Energy Economics, or a related field with a strong focus on quantitative analysis. Proven experience in conducting economic analysis within the energy sector, preferably in a consulting or research capacity. Proficiency in utilising economic modelling tools and software to perform data-driven analyses and scenario simulations. Strong understanding of energy market dynamics, policy frameworks, and regulatory environments, particularly within the UK context. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex economic data into actionable insights. Effective communicator with the capacity to collaborate across disciplines and present findings to diverse audiences.
