Essential Criteria

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate exposure to two of the following areas of expertise:

* Mental Health
* Behaviours that Challenge
* Trauma Informed Care
* Autism and Learning Disabilities
* Positive Behaviour Support

About You

Are you someone who truly enjoys making a difference in others’ lives? Do you have a calm, caring, and resilient nature that helps you thrive in challenging situations? If so, we want to hear from you!

We're looking for individuals to join our colleague team who can stay calm under pressure, who are enthusiastic and take a proactive approach, and handle behaviours that others might find challenging. If you have a manual UK driving license and are comfortable driving alternative vehicles, you're exactly who we're looking for.

What will you be doing?

As a Positive Behaviour Casual Support Worker, you'll be more than just their support – you'll be a key part of someone's journey towards living their best life. Here's what you'll be doing:

* Daily Care & Support: Helping with personal care, meal preparation, medication, and other daily tasks.
* Building Relationships: Getting to know the people you support, understanding their needs, and helping them live life on their own terms.
* Empowering Independence: Assisting with personal goals, from daily activities to long-term aspirations, and encouraging creative exploration.
* Social Engagement: Supporting activities like holidays, social events, and hobbies, ensuring everyone can enjoy what they love doing.
* Respect & Dignity: Ensuring that individuals and their families are treated with the utmost respect, dignity, and equality.

Who you will be Supporting?

Experience supporting a person like me, an autistic man with some complex health needs, would be a strong advantage. I am looking for calm, assertive people with a great sense of humour to join my team who are not easily offended. You need to support me to lead the life I want and to encourage me to be gradually more skilled and confident.

While I need a quiet and happy environment at home, I enjoy activities like walking, listening to music, eating out, and people watching. It would be great if you liked these too.

I’d love for team members to share similar interests. Being physically fit, 100% reliable, and able to provide personal care support are essential. I have autism, and sometimes my behaviour can be challenging, but that shouldn't stop me from doing what I love and leading an active life.

SeeAbility, formerly The Royal School for the Blind, is one of the UK's oldest disability charities, celebrating 225 years of pioneering support since 1799. We support people with learning disabilities, autism, complex needs, and sight loss through person-centred services, supported living, residential care, and specialist eye-care services. We also help people find paid employment for the first time. We are committed to supporting ambitious lives and making a difference.

Safer Recruitment

We follow safe and fair recruitment practices, including background checks, identity verification, health declarations, and references. All vetting will be completed prior to start at our expense.

Diversity

We value diversity and encourage applications from all backgrounds, including underrepresented groups and those with disabilities. We believe a diverse workforce fosters innovation and success. We are committed to equality and inclusion.
