Job Overview
To assist registered nurses deliver evidence-based care to patients/clients, working in partnership with other health care professionals, patients’ families and carers. Deliver patient care as documented in the nursing care plan and carry out a wide range of duties under the supervision of registered nurses throughout the shift.
Main duties of the job
* Ensure the principles set out in the fundamentals of care are incorporated into daily practice to provide high-quality service for patients and clients.
* Assist patients to maintain their hygiene and personal appearance.
* Perform duties within the plan of care delegated by a qualified practitioner for which the assistant has the relevant training and assessment.
* Prepare ward/clinical area for receiving patients by ensuring it is clean and tidy, assist in maintaining standards, and report any untidiness or clutter to the appropriate person.
* Assist in the admission of new patients onto the ward by preparing bed area, welcoming them, directing them to their bed/other area, and showing them around the ward.
* Complete patient menu cards involving patients in the process, taking into account any dietary instructions identified by a qualified nurse.
* Participate in protected mealtimes for patients by ensuring they receive meals and beverages in a timely and safe manner, ensuring hands are washed and the environment is conducive to mealtimes (e.g. preparing bed area).
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
