Offer description

Please note: If you are an external candidate, the starting wage will be the lowest pay point of the Pay Band advertised. If you are a current civil servant, you will usually come over on your existing pay providing it is in the role salary range.

This is a specialist role within the National Security Division (NSD). On appointment, you will be required to undergo Police NPPV vetting checks.

The NSD manages people on probation (PoP) convicted of Terrorism ACT, Terrorism ACT risk, Critical Public Protection Cases, or Serious Organised Crime, posing serious and widespread risk. Management of this cohort follows enhanced standards and involves external agency collaboration.

This role will be hybrid, currently requiring in-office work 2 days per week, subject to change based on business needs.

NPPV2 vetting will be initiated once in post.

Additional Information

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers hybrid working where business needs allow. This is flexible, blending work from home, MoJ sites, or your base location (only within the UK). Some roles may not be suitable for hybrid working; arrangements will be discussed with the successful candidate and reviewed regularly.

Successful candidates will be appointed to an MoJ office location, possibly including Justice Collaboration Centres or Satellite Offices, to be discussed post pre-employment checks.

Terms and conditions are changing due to Civil Service reform. New hires will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if already on modernised terms, or onto unmodernised terms if currently on those. Details provided upon offer.

Standard full-time hours are 37 per week, excluding unpaid breaks. MoJ welcomes part-time, flexible, and job-sharing arrangements, subject to role demands and business needs, in line with the Flexible Working policy.

The MoJ benefits include:

Annual leave of 25 days, increasing to 30 days after five years, plus public holidays. Leave is pro-rata for part-time roles.

Pension

The National Probation Service is covered by the LGPS via GMPF. More info at www.gmpf.org.uk. Civil Servants joining the NPS will be opted out of PCSPS and enrolled in LGPS.

Training

MoJ offers extensive training and development opportunities.

All candidates must pass security and identity checks before starting.

* Flexible benefits, retail discounts, and vouchers.
* Implications for childcare vouchers and eligibility for alternative schemes like Tax-Free Childcare; more info at www.GOV.UK and Childcare Choices.
