Job description


HM Coastguard (HMCG) is the operational arm of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) with responsibility for 6 key missions - Search and Rescue, Pollution Response, Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Safety, Maritime Security and Emergency and Disaster management.

The roles purpose is to provide operational support functions as part of a dedicated team to HM Coastguard Operations and additional general site duties as required to support and assist HQ, Divisional, Area and on-call duty officers within Coastguard operations both locally and nationally.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren't limited to:

* Support of HM Coastguard management activities that include:
* National secretariat support of HQ management meetings - minute taking and Action/Decision log ownership.
* Assisting with the production of monthly and ad-hoc management information reports - POWERBI / ISAR / Monthly Management Information Reports/Presentations.
* JRCC supporting functions.
* Support for HM Coastguard work packages/projects as required.
* Point of contact and administrator for property management issues within Divisions, including Coastguard Operations Centres and Areas.
* Act as Fire Warden as required.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:

* Previous administrative experience.
* Be fully competent with using the full suite of Microsoft packages.
* Be competent in taking and producing minutes and administering action and decision logs.
* Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

Operational Delivery Profession (ODP) is the largest and most diverse professional community across the Civil Service. Many of us will have an association with several professional communities or specialisms, ODP applies to all public facing roles / or a role that is primarily aligned to supporting the work of those with public facing roles. All critical to the delivery of UK public services.

Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements

Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.

This role will require participation in an 'on call' roster system - currently 1 week in 6 to support Strategic Commander in the event of an incident. An 'on call' allowance will be payable for undertaking this role.

This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.

The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location/visiting stakeholders. Your designated workplace will be your contractual place of work. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
