Aberdeenshire Council is a large local authority in North East Scotland providing a vast array of essential services across a wide remit to over 230,000 people. The Council relies upon a first class legal team and we pride ourselves on our innovative and imaginative approach to the delivery of legal services across the organisation. Applicants will have the opportunity to work remotely as well as being office based. The role requires travel across Aberdeenshire. A traineeship within a local authority like Aberdeenshire is unique. You will gain experience of a wide variety of law in an exciting and ever-changing sector and your clients will include Councillors as well as other Council services. During the two year traineeship, you ll spend six months in each of our four main areas of practice, namely Governance, Conveyancing and Developer Obligations & Infrastructure, Commercial and Advice and Representation. Your work will be structured in accordance with a training plan that will aim to ensure you achieve the standard of a qualifying solicitor and you will receive support and mentoring from all members of the team to give you broad and valuable experience and guidance. You will be an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual with a flexible approach and an ability to communicate effectively. You will take pride in the work that you do and appreciate the integral role we play in delivering a first class legal service to the Council.
