About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Mentor with a background in engineering to join our team. The Learning Mentor will play a crucial role in providing guidance, support, and mentorship to individuals on our Pathfinders Academy. The Pathfinders Academy is a train and deploy client solution with specific focus on support the integration of service leavers into civilian job roles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the development and success of a newly established recruitment initiative at the Morson Group.
Key Responsibilities
* Mentorship: Provide one-on-one mentorship to Pathfinders during their first 6 months in role developing relationships that position you as a key point of contact throughout their time in the Pathfinder academy.
* Academic Support: Assist mentees with their technical understanding of the role signposting for and arranging additional support or training as required.
* Client collaboration: Act as a client liaison regarding Pathfinders performance and manage expectations.
* Goal Setting: Collaborate with mentees and the client to establish realistic performance objectives, and develop actionable plans to achieve them.
* Skill Development: Identify areas for improvement in collaboration with the client operational management team and provide constructive feedback to help mentees enhance their technical skills and professional competencies.
* Networking: Facilitate networking opportunities for Pathfinders cohorts creating cohesion between the cohort and proactive opportunities for knowledge sharing and support.
* Progress Monitoring: Track progress of Pathfinders throughout their time with the academy, and adjust mentoring strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
* Wellbeing support: Proactively support the journey of pathfinders throughout their time in the programme taking into careful consideration the individual journey's of pathfinder for example, in their transition from life in the armed forces to civilian job roles.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions, progress reports, and other relevant information to assess the effectiveness of mentoring efforts and track mentee outcomes.
Essential Skills
* Previous experience working in the engineering industry.
* Proven experience working as a mentor, tutor, or educator, preferably in the field of engineering.
* Knowledge of engineering principles and working practices, across various disciplines.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and inspire confidence in mentees.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and a passion for helping others overcome personal and professional challenges.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
