Role Overview
Reporting to the Civils Supervisor, you will lead and manage a team of Civils Operatives, encompassing planning, coordination and delivery of civils projects.Optimise performance and support the division's goals of delivering outstanding projects whilst maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and quality.
Responsibilities
Complete the execution of civils projects in line with established timelines, and H&S/quality standards
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or challenges and implement corrective measures
Ensure the safety of yourself and others affected by your work at all times, providing direction, guidance and support to team members
Foster and encourage continuous improvement and excellence within your team
Maintain quality of workmanship ensuring this meets minimum standards and complies with Companies/Client Health & Safety policy and practices
Communicate effectively with all staff Supervisors/administration and management personnel
Consider the current and next phase of work and be proactive to ensure that you can complete all your planned work in a safe, efficient and organised manner
Overall management of the work site(s), including operatives, site visitors and general public at all times
Attend safety briefings, training, consultation meetings and health surveillance when required
If directed, follow up any remedial work (as necessary) in an accurate and timely manner
Use only approved equipment, in the correct manner and protect and trace all utilities within your works area and ensure the safety and health of yourself and others
Report and / or record all accidents, incidents, environmental events (aspects and impacts), damages, near misses and illnesses, and co-operate with site inspections and investigations
Comply with all Health, Safety, Engineering & Environmental requirements relevant to your duties and responsibilities, and ensure the safety of yourself and others
Ensure completion of accurate paperwork, including submission of track sheets and relevant records in a timely manner and ensure copies are retained as appropriate
Only carry out work for which you are trained and competent and cease work where procedures cannot be followed Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 2 years UK driving experience with no more than 6 points on your licence (essential)
Previous practical experience leading and working on civils projects
NRSWA accreditation (essential)
PIA accreditation (essential)
Proficient in chamber builds
1.5t 360 mini digger experience (essential)
Towing ability (essential)
Exceptional knowledge of site safety and site setups with the public and team member welfare
Experience with reinstating modular surfaces/reinstatement techniques and regulations (essential)
Prepared to work in inclement weather conditions and within a physically demanding role
Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders at all levels.
