About The Role
Telegraph Media Group is looking to recruit a Money Reporter to join its highly successful personal finance team.
The ideal candidate will be a talented and hungry journalist who is full of ideas and can write news and features copy to a high standard. You will thrive if you are a fast learner with a strong news sense and plenty of enthusiasm, as well as a good understanding of Telegraph Money readers and their concerns.
Key Responsibilities
* Finding, pitching, reporting and writing stories to a high journalistic standard in a range of formats including news, analysis, features and case studies
* Developing original and compelling ideas for stories and campaigns
* Monitoring reader correspondence via email, article comments and social media – and using these as a prompt for idea generation
* Monitoring analytics to help inform ideas and formats
* Spotting stories or digital projects from raw numbers
* Working collaboratively with colleagues, including on other desks, where appropriate
Key Skills
* An excellent, accurate writer across a range of styles and formats
* Numerate
* Full of original ideas
* Experienced with writing, reporting and developing ideas
* Able to explain and convey complex subjects clearly and comprehensively
* Organised, enthusiastic and willing to be part of our happy and successful team
* Able to find new ways to cover the same topics or issues
* Willing to take initiative and work well under pressure
* News-aware and alive to the interests of our audience
Desirable Skills
* A network of contacts across the spectrum of core personal finance topics including mortgages and property finance, investing, tax, pensions, banking and insurance
* Knowledge and experience of a particular personal finance beat
