Overview
An opportunity has arisen within the Neighbourhoods & Environment directorate for an Assistant Cook to work under the supervision of the Cook, assisting in the production of the School Meals Catering service, observing all food hygiene and health & safety regulations. The post holder could be asked to cover long or short-term absences within Blaenau Gwent School Meals service. You will be prepared to work additional hours or at any reasonable time of day as required in order to ensure the smooth running of the catering unit.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the production of the School Meals Catering service under the supervision of the Cook.
* Observe all food hygiene and health & safety regulations.
* In the absence of the Cook, undertake the full range of Cook’s duties including administrative tasks and procedures.
* Be prepared to cover long or short-term absences within Blaenau Gwent School Meals service.
* Work additional hours or at any reasonable time of day as required to ensure the smooth running of the catering unit.
Qualifications
* Current Food Safety Level 3 qualification.
* Professional cooking qualification.
* Experience of working within the catering industry with practical catering skills.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. A comprehensive pre-employment screening process will be undertaken which will include an Enhanced Disclosure with Child Barred List
