Salary from £33-£42k.The Role:Working within the team, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of field survey work, preparing plans, reports and technical documents for architects, planning consultants, developers, and land managers.You will be involved in all areas of work, including:Leading and managing ecological surveys and assessments, including PEA, BNG, protected species surveys, and ecological impact assessments (EcIAs).Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on ecological matters, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practice.Developing and implementing mitigation and enhancement strategies to minimise ecological impacts and deliver biodiversity net gain.Prepare high-quality ecological reports and technical documents.Mentoring and supporting assistant ecologists, evolving the collaborative and supportive team environment.Project management, including budget control, scheduling, and client management.Developing and maintaining strong relationships and communication with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.Requirements:Proven ecological experience in delivering a range of surveys and reports for at least 3-5 years.Experience delivering BNG assessmentsAn understanding of ecological consultancy and a passion for the natural environment.Comprehensive knowledge of UK habitat and protected species legislation and survey methodologies.Good botanical identification skills, preferably FISC level 3 or above.Experience in preparing EcIAs and preparing planning applications.Excellent report writing and communication skills.A full UK driving licence and your own car are essential as travelling is an integral part of the role.Class 1 bat or Class 1 great crested newt licence preferredProficient use of MS Office (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel).Excellent verbal & written communication and attention to detail.Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and ability to use your own initiative.Able to maintain confidentiality.Reliable/Hard working/ Excellent timekeeping.Full job description below :Senior Ecological Consultant - https://bit.ly/SeniorEcologistWharton's primary goal is to improve the connection with nature and positively disrupt how clients view their impact on the environment.Wharton is looking for team players who are reliable, organised, confident in talking to clients, and have a great attitude.To apply, interested candidates can apply online or send their CV to hello@wnic.co.uk or call us on 01789 459458.
