Trade Counter Manager (Full-Time)

DC Flooring NE Ltd is a Middlesbrough-based flooring retailer supplying and fitting premium flooring across the North East. We work with both trade and domestic customers and pride ourselves on friendly, straightforward service and quality workmanship.
Role summary
We’re looking for a Trade Counter Manager to run our trade counter day-to-day, look after trade customers, and keep the branch organized and moving. You’ll be the first point of contact for walk-ins and phone enquiries, helping customers choose the right products, pricing jobs accurately, and making sure orders are processed smoothly.
Key responsibilities
* Manage the trade counter operation day-to-day and keep standards high
* Serve trade and public customers in-branch, by phone, and by email
* Provide product advice across carpets, vinyl, laminate, LVT, wall panels, artificial grass, and stair runners
* Prepare quotes, take orders, and process payments accurately
* Coordinate stock availability, deliveries, and collections
* Liaise with suppliers and fitters/contractors to support smooth job delivery
* Keep the showroom/trade counter tidy, well-presented, and well-stocked with samples
* Handle customer queries and resolve issues in a calm, helpful way
* Maintain accurate records (quotes, orders, invoices, customer details)
* Support the owner/team with day-to-day admin and branch organization
What we’re looking for
Experience preferred in a trade counter, builders’ merchant, flooring, home improvement, or similar customer-facing environment.
You’ll ideally be:
* Confident dealing with trade customers and building long-term relationships
* Organized, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple jobs at once
* Strong on customer service with a practical, can-do attitude
* Comfortable using basic systems for quoting, orders, and emails
* Able to work independently and take ownership of the counter
* Good communicator—clear, friendly, and professional
Hours and location
* Full-time (Monday to Friday) (occasional Saturdays)
* Based at: Unit 1a Whitestone Business Park, Saltwells Road, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, TS4 2ED
