Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner in Speciality
Fixed term post (12 months) to cover maternity leave. Based with Foxgrove, the National Secure Adolescent In-Patient Service (NSAIS) at Ayrshire Central Hospital, as part of NHS Ayrshire and Arran. The service supports young people aged 12-18 who may require detention for assessment and treatment of mental disorder under relevant legislation.
Foxgrove is a new specialist medium secure mental health service for young people. The role requires an understanding of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and/or Forensic Mental Health with relevant experience. This is a substantive clinical post focusing on high standard of care delivered directly and through the multi-disciplinary team.
What You Will Do
Deliver high-quality clinical care to young people accessing Foxgrove, directly and via the multi-disciplinary team. Manage a range of complex needs including mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions. The post requires flexibility, including weekend work as clinically appropriate (no night shifts). This post attracts a Recruitment and Retention Premium.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
* Experience in a health, social care or education environment, and a relevant SVQ 3, or HNC
* Short specialist courses relevant to area of work
* Experience of working within a forensic mental health service and/or CAMHS service
* Demonstrated experience of working autonomously in the delivery of care
* Knowledge of the role that AHPs provide to inpatient settings, rehabilitation techniques, and activities relevant to the client group
* Knowledge of forensic services and/or CAMHS/YP service
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Observation and basic assessment skills
* Ability to apply a range of creative, technical and practical skills
* Positive relationship behaviours including effective person-centered communication and interpersonal skills
* Organisation, planning and time management skills
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team

Driving Licence
