System Mechanical Technician, National Hyperbaric Centre, Aberdeen
Full‑time, Permanent. Note: this role requires security checks.
Responsibilities
* Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance on all NHC dive systems, including PHRFs, LSPs, and supporting equipment.
* Prioritise and record all maintenance tasks in TM Master, ensuring accurate and complete job documentation.
* Respond to breakdowns and support repairs on client‑owned equipment when needed.
* Raise requisitions for spare parts and ensure the correct components are available for ongoing work.
* Work in accordance with all relevant IMCA DESIGN standards (DO18/23/24/53/63).
* Provide flexibility for rota/shift work to support trials, tests, verification activities, and general workshop operations.
Qualifications
* Completed a recognised technical apprenticeship/training programme (SVQ or equivalent), or demonstrated relevant industry experience in a similar mechanical technician role.
* Hands‑on experience with breathing equipment, compressors, and general mechanical assembly.
* Competent in small‑bore pipework, welding, and soldering.
* Basic electrical aptitude and the ability to read technical drawings, datasheets, and work instructions.
* Understanding of QA, Health & Safety practices, and IMCA guidelines/standards.
* Knowledge of diving equipment and life‑support systems.
* Confident using Microsoft Office and general IT tools.
