About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice and support to clients on compliance with the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated secondary legislation.
The role focuses on advising statutory duty holders on both new and existing buildings categorized as Higher Risk Buildings, during design, construction, and occupation phases.
You will deliver projects to the required quality, contribute to business growth, and provide expert advice on legislative matters related to the Building Safety Act 2022. You will also contribute to continuous improvement and development of new assurance services.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Brief project teams on BSA 2022 requirements and duties.
* Support clients during project design meetings.
* Review and advise on competence submissions.
* Identify potential BSA 2022 compliance risks.
* Support review and advice on building control approval (GW2) and completion certification (GW3).
* Review and audit ‘golden thread’ information.
* Coordinate with the Building Control team for timely design reviews and compliance tracking.
* Liaise with the Independent Construction Assessor team for site audits.
* Participate in design team meetings to ensure BSA 2022 compliance.
* Escalate issues to the Director of Assurance Services when necessary.
* Produce client proposals for Assurance Services based on client needs.
Candidate Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate will hold accredited RICS/CABE/CIOB/RIBA status and have extensive post-qualification experience working with Higher Risk Buildings.
* Experience as a Senior Design Manager, Project Manager, or Architect involved in project delivery.
* Knowledge of building systems, construction products, and materials.
* Ability to identify gaps in team competencies using frameworks like PAS Flex 8670.
* Understanding of information management systems and maintaining the golden thread of information.
* Familiarity with technical guidance, standards, and the RIBA Plan of Work.
* Knowledge of the impact of design and construction changes on compliance.
* Understanding of building safety principles: fire safety, structural safety, public safety, and safety management.
* Excellent organizational, project management, and client-facing skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
* Attention to detail, commercial acumen, and strong communication skills.
* Ability to manage a busy workload effectively.
