Geo Environmental Engineer – City of Edinburgh
At WSP, we are seeking to grow our world‑class team to ensure we continue to deliver technical excellence across regional and national projects. This role specifically supports large‑scale ground investigations, requiring a substantial on‑site presence and travel within the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in day‑to‑day delivery of projects, working closely with team members, project managers and directors.
Your Team
The post is with our Ground & Water team, a service line within WSP's Earth & Environment business. The team of over 180 professionals provides land contamination management services to a range of private and public sector clients.
The Key Responsibilities
* Completion of groundwater monitoring.
* Supervision of site investigations.
* Supervision of field work including soil logging, environmental sampling, chemical and geotechnical testing, groundwater sampling and ground‑gas monitoring.
* Data collation.
* Ensuring all work is delivered in line with procedures and to the highest safety, health and environmental standards.
Experience and Skills
* Knowledge of planning requirements and supervision of site investigations.
* Understanding of CDM regulations and their application to safe design and implementation of site investigations.
* Experience with GIS and data handling (desirable).
* Full UK driving licence (essential).
* Comfortable working on site with the ability to use initiative and be self‑motivated.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Strong work ethic, ability to deliver on commitments on time and to quality, self‑awareness, time‑management and budget discipline.
* Capability to build rapport, trust and a sustainable support network.
Qualifications
* Site safety qualifications (e.g., first aid training, SSSTS or equivalent) – desirable.
* Relevant technical degree (chemistry, biology, geology, engineering or environmental science) – desirable but not essential.
* Ability to travel to sites across the UK as required.
