Overview

Join to apply for the Operations Technician role at EPUKI. An opportunity has arisen to join the team at Corby Power Station on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role focuses on the safe, efficient operation and first-line maintenance of the plant, supporting reliability and maximising commercial performance. This position offers a fast-paced, dynamic environment where safety, efficiency, and teamwork are prioritised.

This position is part of a rotating shift schedule that provides 24/7/365 coverage. Shifts may fall at any time between 00:01 on Monday and 00:00 on Sunday. The role averages 37 working hours per week.


Key Responsibilities

* Start up, shutdown and operate Corby Power Station in line with the directions of the Operations Team Leader and in accordance with relevant legislation, site procedures and best practice standards.
* Monitor plant performance to ensure safe and efficient delivery of production targets and protection of plant integrity.
* Work flexibly to meet changing operational and business requirements.
* Operate the plant via the Control Room DCS systems, monitor plant parameters and alarms, etc.
* Attend to plant for routine monitoring, operations and fault response.
* Carry out first line maintenance and preventative maintenance routines to maintain plant availability and reliability.
* Assist with the production and maintenance of site procedures.
* Enact the role of Emergency Controller if required when implementing Station Emergency Plans.
* Maintain competencies as specified to meet role requirements (e.g., First Aid).


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Background

* Experience of Power Station operations or a similar heavy process industry (essential).
* A good working knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards (essential).
* Be capable and willing to work towards becoming authorised as SPE/SSC under the SSoW Rules (essential).
* Demonstrable competence in IT/IS skills e.g. MS Office and control systems (essential).
* Good numeracy, literacy and problem-solving skills (essential).
* Experience of laboratory analysis equipment and techniques (desirable).

Qualifications

* A recognised engineering/craft-based qualification in an appropriate discipline or equivalent experience.
* Minimum of ONC (or equivalent experience) in an appropriate engineering subject (essential).
* Possess a HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline (desirable).
* Completed a recognised formal training programme or apprenticeship to achieve technician status (C&G parts I, II & III) (desirable).
* Member of recognised professional institution (desirable).
