Senior Communications Engineer - BMS | CCTV | PAVA | IDS (Electrical / Electronic)
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – minimum 2 days in-office)
Start Date: June 2025, ASAP
Contract Duration: 6 months
Engagement Type: Inside IR35
Rate: £45/hour (flexible based on experience)
Security Clearance: BPSS / SC Clearance
Our client, a multidisciplinary consultancy, is seeking a Senior Communications Engineer to join their team on a temporary contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to advance their career within a leading consultancy.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead the design and delivery of cutting-edge communications systems, including structured cabling (copper and fibre optic) and associated physical network infrastructure.
* Understand key Building Services design considerations for projects.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across sectors like Nuclear, Defence, Infrastructure, Government, and Transportation.
* Engage with clients by presenting designs and leading technical discussions.
* Manage project deliverables and mentor junior team members.
* Build and maintain a high-profile client base with a customer-focused approach.
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Communications, Electronic Engineering, or ICT (Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred).
* Strong experience in:
o Building Management Systems (BMS)
o Video Surveillance Systems (VSS)
o Access Control Systems (ACS)
o Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
o PAVA systems
o Structured cabling (copper & fibre), IP networking, and AV systems.
* Experience attending sites and monitoring works, including installation and commissioning stages of communications systems and their ancillaries (containment, power).
* Ability to manage work packages, ensuring successful meeting of project deadlines.
* Excellent report writing skills, including writing specifications aligned with RIBA stages.
Desirable skills include proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, familiarity with RIBA/BSRIA stages, and BIM processes. Ability to work independently and lead project packages is essential.
