About the role

Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations and related sites, including Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at the hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

Key responsibilities

Overview

* Provide suitable engineering solutions for complex projects.
* Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects.
* Contribute to project documentation including design, safety case and commissioning strategies.
* Develop concept designs and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions for projects.
* Produce and/or approve project technical specifications.
* Manage detailed design activities in accordance with design authority standards.
* Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors’ work instructions/method statements/risk assessments.
* Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
* Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning.
* Manage handover to systems/operations ensuring that all drawings, instructions and training have been supplied as required.


Qualifications

* Appropriate HNC, (NQF Level 5); preferably degree level (NQF Level 6) or working towards (Essential).
* Significant experience in practising a disciplined Engineering role on industrial plant (Essential).
* Experience of fulfilling the CDM Designer role (Essential).
* Knowledge/Experience in commissioning of industrial plant (Desirable).
* Knowledge/Experience in Contract Management (Desirable).


Experience and knowledge

* The candidate must be a proactive individual with a proven record of delivering in a project team.
* Travel to other locations will be necessary depending on project demands.


SQEP for Role

* Successful candidates will be required to hold Authorisations commensurate with the role.
* Candidates aspiring to this broad role with a suitable PDP will also be considered.

Additional Information

Please be aware this role requires security clearance, or the ability to obtain said clearance.

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
