The role
Electrical Engineer - HMI will be responsible for the next generation of Norton’s HMI systems, including software and hardware requirements in line with industry standards for security, safety and diagnostics. You will deliver exciting new technologies for Norton Motorcycles and work as a motivated hands-on team player across functions to meet department and business objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities
* Design and develop HMI systems for infotainment, instrument clusters, and driver assistance features.
* Collaborate with UX/UI designers, software developers, and system engineers to translate user needs into functional interfaces.
* Define HMI architecture, system requirements, and interface specifications.
* Plan feature testing with Engineering validation to support hardware and software validation.
* Ensure compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and usability guidelines.
* Work with engineers across teams to capture all requirements.
* Support the wider electrical team to develop functional specifications and requirements for modules.
* Support progress updates and address electrical concerns.
* Contribute to the definition of the software development process.
Personal Specification
Understand engineering fundamentals in the design and development of components and assemblies, including:
* Experience with HMI skillset.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes.
* Knowledge of dSPACE HIL toolchain.
* Design for assembly and manufacture.
* Advanced knowledge of Vector Canalyzer/CANoe/Canape tools.
