This is an office-based Senior Asset Data Engineer role in our Asset Information Management (AIM) team. You will help ensure Wessex Water has accurate, trusted asset data to support safe, compliant and efficient decision‑making.
What youll do
Youll use your asset management experience and analytical skills to:
* validate, cleanse, structure and govern asset data in line with agreed standards and frameworks
* identify trends, anomalies and data quality issues
* improve confidence in asset information
* support asset planning, operations, regulatory reporting and investment decisions.
* act as a central point of contact for asset data requests
* provide insight, analysis, mapping, visualisation and data extracts for teams across the business
* work closely with Asset Management, IT and Performance Reporting & Analytics to help maintain and improve asset databases, reporting tools and automated datasets.
You’ll also support the wider business in better understanding and using asset data through guidance, training and coaching, and by helping to shape systems that store or depend on asset information. Representing AIM across Wessex Water, you’ll collaborate widely to improve data quality, governance and outcomes.
What you’ll need
You will need:
* strong technical skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
* the ability to interpret and analyse data using a range of tools
* to be highly computer‑literate, with strong Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel)
* experience with tools such as SQL, Python or VBA, which would be an advantage
* a good understanding of asset management principles, including the IAM maturity and governance model. Knowledge of ISO 55000, GDPR and operational processes is desirable, with IAM Certification an advantage.
