Within this portfolio, the Technical Services – Design & Manufacturing Centre provides specialist design, machining and fabrication capability, enabling high-quality teaching demonstrations, prototype development and bespoke research instrumentation. The team prides itself on safety, service excellence and practical, solutions-focused outcomes. About the opportunity Prepare materials, machine components (manual and CNC), weld, and fabricate to support teaching demonstrations and bespoke research projects. Service and maintain workshop equipment, manage tooling and stock levels, and contribute to local safe work procedures and continuous improvement. Support staff and students by demonstrating practical skills, guiding safe equipment use, and contributing to a high-performing, safety-focused workshop culture. About you Trade qualification and/or relevant tertiary qualification, with substantial workshop and machining experience. Proficiency in CNC operation (CAM or conversational programming highly regarded) plus manual fitting, welding and basic woodworking skills. Strong organisational, record-keeping and communication abilities, with a commitment to safety and customer service. Confident working independently and as part of a collaborative technical team. Capability (and enthusiasm) to train others in practical workshop techniques. Special Requirements Current “C” class manual driver’s licence and (or willingness to obtain) forklift licence. Ability to meet the physical demands of workshop duties; some after-hours work may be required.
