Commercial Services Manager – Environment Agency
We are looking for a Commercial Services Manager to support the team overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors. You will help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements.
This role is all about supporting the team overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors – a vital role in the success of our projects and our ability to maximise returns on our budget and demonstrate value for money.
As part of the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team you will provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community, championing effective governance and commercial assurance to achieve the very best value for money.
Key Responsibilities
* Support commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors.
* Set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice.
* Provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community.
* Champion effective governance and commercial assurance to achieve the best value for money.
* Participate in incident response duties when required.
* Undertake ongoing training and development.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* A Level or equivalent (Level 3 qualification).
* Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks and deliver value for money.
* Administrative skills – strong organisation, minute‑taking and report drafting.
* Willingness to undertake professional development (e.g., NEC training, CIPS).
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desirable Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
* Working towards statutory status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
